FILMMAKER
VISION
My vision as a filmmaker is to transport the viewer into intimate spaces to question preconceived notions of gender, race, and sexuality. In my art, I aim to represent and explore the complexity of queer stories. I manifest abundant queer futures by creating works that feature the joy and radical healing that have been stolen from us. I am moved by idealizing and manifesting a world where new generations can exist without having to explain themselves; and those are the elements I want to focus on in my work.
In my time in the industry, I have focused on gaining experience with production sound, directing, and editing. I have worked as assistant editor for various documentaries, and currently serve as the Production Supervisor on the upcoming documentary series I Identify As Me. My film, Ni Aqui/Ni Alla, has been featured both nationally and internationally in over 25 film festivals. Through my experience I have also been supportive of other filmmakers in an advisory capacity. My years spent on sets have taught me a lot about productions, especially about working as part of a crew and creating an intentional and caring space for those around me.
I want to push the boundaries of documentary filmmaking and infuse them with the unlimited possibilities of fiction. Creating films of stories I want to tell is as important as supporting other creatives with shared identities and experiences. I am excited about the possibilities of using film beyond entertainment, as an art form capable of creating change and mobilizing social structures.
